Well, it's definitely time I showed my face around here again. The days between my last post until today have been somewhat well, eventful. On Tuesday, July 15 my Uncle Henry passed away at the age of 52. It was a shock being that he was so young and had a sudden heart attack. The funeral was Saturday, and although we would have loved to be there, it just wasn't possible. My thoughts are with my Aunty Carol right now, and my cousins Tracy and Victoria who are now facing the road ahead without their husband and father. God give you peace and comfort as you press on. We love you.
Last week Tuesday I also started a new job serving at a local Chinese food restaurant. I love it. The owners are wonderful, the co-workers are helpful, the food is amazing. The atmosphere is perfect. I just love it. A few hours in the evening, this is my new "time-out" from the boys and a great way to make a bit of extra spending money. For 10 days the restaurant is closed in the summer so the owners and their family can go away on a holiday. So I won't be working again until they re-open on August 1. The busy-ness from last week has take its toll on my body and my brain however (trying to remember the menu and all the most efficient ways to serve!). A strange rash appeared on my leg Sunday afternoon, and I've been having chest pain. I went to see the doctor on Monday and diagnosed the rash at Petechia and ordered bloodwork, which once checked out by the doctor didn't raise any concerns. So for now, having no other symptoms, I chalk it up to a really hectic week last week. Hopefully the pain subsides and my body is back up to speed before I head back to work again next week. Jaco and I decided now would be a good time to try to get away with just the two of us, so we'll be shipping the kids out and heading up to a little cabin in the "middle of no-where" for the weekend. I'm looking forward to some good R&R.
I'll leave you with some recent photos (to satisfy the famililal maternal grandmother types of course). These are mostly from Nathan's first birthday celebration at my parents house in the backyard.
Our niece Kaitlyn who proudly exclaims, "I see, I see!" when putting her sunglasses on.
Our niece Alyssa, I think more popsicle ended up on her face than in her mouth.
No really. He just can't help it.
Nathan loves water.
Nathan had fun opening his cards and presents.
I can't believe my baby turned one!

ReplyDeleteA job? Glad to hear it's going well! Maybe I'll have to convince John and the band to stop in for a meal while they're in town next month. :)
